There has been some discussion regarding the Nikkor 24mm f2.8 AI-S over here:
http://forum.mflenses.com/nikkor-ais-24-2-8-vs-zuiko-24-2-8-t60144.html

Rather than hijacking that thread, I thought I'd post some images here that may shed some light on the lens.
Admittedly this is an extremely limited test, but it does show the lens at various apertures for the same subject.
Images shot in RAW on Nikon D7000 adjusted for exposure in LR3 - no other PP
Hope it helps.

To give some idea of scale, here was the shooting setup:

thanks for sharing OH,
I can see the sharpness in the center of image is very good at all aperture. if you dont mind, can you enclose 100% crop of the image corner?
since i also considering this lens, would be very informative for me if I can see the performance of this lens in the corner. and i would be very grateful Very Happy

Close shoots are easy to any lens tough is infinity with small details at horizont like forest , try it outside and bring to us some nice pic from your beautiful country.

I'm away today, and will be heading south for a week after that. I'll see if I can arrange something when I get home.
Attila's suggestion is a good one, I'll follow that up.
Cheers

I agree with Attila and you.

Just i saw that the nikkor is not so sharp at long distance (like the leica M lenses are).

Far trees, fields, animals, are a good test for the lenses.

I set up this example to show DOF, and deliberately staggered the images at the sides to illustrate this.
This is not a good test sample for showing corner sharpness - that will have to wait until I do some outdoors images.
I've been away and am just home with lots of jobs to finish, so when I can I will post another set of images.
Thanks
OH

+1
I use 24mm mainly for outside shots near infinity, I am interested how corners look like as well.

My beautiful country seems less so when one has the 'flu - and I have very low levels of creativity at the moment - so the following images are a poor choice. Nevertheless here we go.
Camera was set on a tripod, and the focus point was 3 metres.
Clearly, from the cropped images it is evident that focus clarity increases with smaller aperture - check the graffiti.
The DOF scale shows that once past f8, infinity is supposedly in focus. I found the reproduction of the top right of the images @ 100% crop to be mediocre - see image at the end.
See what you think of these.

@f11

@f22

100% crop @ f22

Top right corner 100% crop @ f16

And just to show that up close this lens is very good, here is a quick image taken when the wind dropped - followed by an edge 100% crop.
Both shot at f 8

100% crop @ f8

Cheers to all

These look nice...

My 24/2.8, the 1st version, wasn't near as good on my Canon...way too susceptible to flair...low contrast and simply unusable in bright sun....even Canon's budget kit lens was better...I gather the later multi-coated version of the 24 is better, but when I found the Oly version I tried it and it's so much better than my old Nikkor that I'm sticking with it...the only problem is that if I switch to Nikon, I have to let Oly go...

...glad yours works better for you.
