HMS Macaw, Wellbank, Bootle, Cumbria, UK

This is an abandoned army base that during WW2 was a Royal Naval training establishment, HMS Macaw.

I didn't explore even a quarter of the site and didn't go inside the buildings, there is asbestos everywhere and other hazards.

Carl Zeiss Skoparex 3.4/35 on NEX-3. I took the wrong lens, 35mm on APS-C is not wide and for buildings, you need width, so I improvised and these are all stitched from several shots. Only PP is auto contrast in Photoshop then sharpening.

Sad to see these abandoned places, lens certainly did job well.

This sort of abandonment and decay is sadly quite common here. Soon this site will be demolished and turned back into empty fields. It's stood empty probably 15 years.
