Just a quick shot from a hike this past weekend.

I used a cheap budget lens as I don't have any quality wide angle lenses yet for my D600.

Used an old Nikon Series-E 28mm F2.8.

I used to have the Nikon E 28mm., it's a very nice lens, excellent quality/price ratio
astounding scenery in this image!

Thanks. Not a whole lot. I always shoot landscapes with filters. For these shots I used a linear polarizer and a 3 stop graduated soft ND filter.

For PP I changed the contrast and added a little sharpness, that's about it.

Lovely scene. Several of the E series nikon lenses (they did not label them nikkor) are much "better than they ought to be".

Outstanding usage of CPL and ND filters. It's great to have the 'filtration' within the camera rather than
in post-processing. Smile

Hate to say it here, but it ain't the lens (usually) but the photographer. You proved it. Though in this case 'cheap' does not equal 'indifferent quality'.

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate it!

I am happy with the lens, especially for what it cost on the used market. I only used it for this one shot on my hike.

Here is a different shot, but I used my 50mm F1.8G lens so didn't include it in the original post. The 50mm is quite a bit sharper, but it sure isn't as wide as the 28mm. I also like the way that the Series-E 28mm renders color.

50mm F1.8G

They're both excellent, unless you're pixel peeping I can't see a lot wrong with those budget lenses Smile
