I've just picked up a copy of this lens. Optics are great, but the barrel has that tacky feeling indicating finish is deteriorating. Anyone have a tip on what to do about that? Paint it with nail polish? It's a shame because it's optically and mechanically excellent.

it should be powder coated really and that's not a cheap job
