Hi!
Here some test shots with this beautiful piece of metal mounted on my D700. Almost no PP, all wide open except #6, I read that this lens has no coating, well may be but apparently, my exemplar doesn't suffer from low contrast as you can see on these samples:
(click on pictures for higher resolution!)

picture of the lens (M39 mount):

some pictures from today, my neighbour "playing" with her dogs:

10/ 100% crop from image #8 (no PP, no sharpening)..

I don't know what you think about it but I found this lens quite amazing, not only sharp but lovely rendering/colors and I really like the smooth bokeh, actually I was planning of selling this lens but I changed my mind and I will keep it Very Happy ...

Thanks for looking Smile

Thanks all for the kind comments, yes definitively a great lens but forgot to say, the lens is heavy as hell (more than 1,5Kg Shocked ), it's like to carry a concrete block on your neck Rolling Eyes ...

Actually, I did some search on the forum and only found few samples with the 6-2 version (black one supposed to have a better coating!?) and I've seen also your post (about the black version as well if I good remember Question )...at this time, your conclusion was that the lens was quite poor wide open or at least with low contrast, not very sharp wide open, and not as good as the sonnar 2.8/180mm (or 200mm)....well, I must say I'm not totally agree with that, like I said, mine is definitively a top lens, very contrasty, very sharp, beautiful bokeh (on my eyes), and I use to have a lot of 180mm lenses incl the sonnar 180 and 200mm, the olympic version as well and the jupiter is on my opinion much better in every aspects, but again it's only my humble opinion and I don't have anymore the sonnar so I can't compared them anymore.....
but may be I'm just lucky to have a good Jupiter's exemplar Very Happy ...

Early Russians lenses are usually better than late one, there is some exception but true, until Stalin did alive quality was deadly controlled : ( and they had Zeiss glass, Zeiss people etc. good work did go upto 1958 1960, this is my general conclusion. Certainly presented pictures who made it also a very serious factor if not most important, you did make superb captures on good light, certainly impression is lot better than boring neighborhood roof or bookshelf, test chart etc

Attila, the serial number from my lens begins with "00", is it may be also a guaranty for better quality control, do you have an idea about that?

No, the OVF from the D700 is really good and bright enough to use it without split screen....

WOW Shocked
Fantastique, Pascal !

Even with a clear OVF, to be in focus wide open with action photos is a great challenge.
It means a good and easy turning focusing ring, a very good eye ; or prefocusing on a certain point and then shoot ; or shoot non stop in a row with certainly a lot of bad ones.

What technique do you use ? Very Happy

Well... Embarassed

Addiction took me again by surprise Twisted Evil

So now I'm waiting for a Jupiter-6 silver M39 to arrive at home.
There was one selling with "make an offer". I made an offer well under the price. After 2 days I had the great surprise to learn that seller accepted my offer.
