This is a male Calopteryx Virgo, one of my favorite macro subjects.

#1 is the best photo of it I have ever seen. Excellent!
I really like the background, far from the usual blackout one sees in macro shots.
Have you used flash in #1?

I didn't use flash but the sunlight that filtered through the leaves ....
