So a few days ago I climbed the mountain! Unfortunately I didn't find a burning bush. Sad Fortunately I did find a shinto gong-hut. That was fortunate because I had brought my GH2 and eight different 35-70mm lenses and was looking for something to do a comparison test on. Maybe next time on the burning bush? Well at least I recently got to hear Moses's living descendant on the radio: Here - 1, Here - 2, and Here - 3 which I thought was thoroughly fascinating and a half.

Whatever, on with the comparison results:

And if you wanna see the full sized SOOC JPeg converted images just go to the root and click on the ones that start with "Full_" here. Smile I really have no idea why I did this. It's probably safer in my case than trying to approach a burning bush! And it gave me something to do that afternoon! Smile Maybe someone will get something out of it. <shrug>

To me they all look very similar except for the Sigma. The suprise packet (to me) appears to be the Tamron.

I like the Canon the best (I may be a bit biased), the Olympus and the Nikkor seem very similar.

erm shame you didn't have the Minolta 35-70mm f3.5 as it's a very good lens (on film).

I first thought you were comparing lenses in the 35mm to 70mm range as having eight zooms was unlikely. You proved me wrong.

Thanks...The Minolta does give nice results and I only got this zoom because a thread said it's the same as the Leica and was lucky to pick it up at a boot sale for £5

On my screen, Zuiko seems to be the best, followed by Canon. Nikkor on 3rd position.

They all look similar to me apart from the Sigma which looks crap, not surprised, I had it and it is crap.

If you place them in layers or stacked browser tabs and switch back and forth you can see the differences. Most of the lenses here are pretty good and these were all shot at f/5.6 so there aren't a whole lot of differences. But switching as suggested will reveal differences in color, micro-contrast, and sharpness between almost all of them. Such things are important when post processing for screen or print. So for example if I were to process all these in the same way you would directly see more of the differences. Smile
