Well, I tried B&W, but the green bottle is lost then... I like the different green hues (the shirt, bottle, grass, fountain base, trees).

Pretty much exactly my conclusion. The bottle is the balance in the way a fulcrum is a balance. Located almost exactly between the two very dissimilar people, it becomes a pivot point. And it is expressing a connection between the two like few other things of minimalist value could. The connection of sharing, and thus friendship.

You certainly are right. I don´t know anything about these men, possibly complete strangers. Just happened there testing my new lens, and I took a semi-silhouette shot. Only at home when I uploaded the pics I noticed the bottle making a connection and decided to call it "Friends".

due big size, I just open this and succed to see the pic. yesterday my connection was poor.
I like it very much.
PS, with NEX new firmware, partial green effect. BW conversion isn't necessary Very Happy
All color except green will be in BW
