Yup, that's what we call them here in the States at least. However, when they group together into hoards of many millions, then they are called locusts, and they can carve a path of destruction as they move through farmlands, etc.

My entry for this contest is a photo of a butterfly, taken with Nikon D5000 &Tamron Adaptall2 80-200mm with 50mm macro extension tube and f-stop down to f8.
