These three slides show some wildly different types of light hitting the subjects.

There was a spotlight of sun that broke through the overcast and lit up the
moss on the Bigleaf Maple. The light was bouncing around and diffusing
in the areas of ferns in the shadows and made for a unique lighting effect.

The very shallow angle of sunlight emphasized the furrows and texture of the
large leaf against the stringy reeds.

The combination of fog and shallow depth of field made the cattails seem subdued. There
was a large Chinese Laurel in the background which added the green color against the
browns, pinks, and grays of the cattails.
