Unmasked negative color films?

Hi!
I'm very interested in unmasked C41 negative color films because they should be easily convertable to a positive after digitalisation via digital camera.
Is there anything I should know about them? Why are usual negative films masked? Someone told me it produces better colors - is that true andy why? Is there another reason?
Do you have any suggestions for good films?

I never heard Sad use slide film and develop by yourself as I do.

there will not be more easily convertible than masked films

There is Rollei Digibase 200, no mask, a good film, a bit noisy but for the rest is ok.
