It is ~20mm and aperture is around F2.2

Images taken on NEX-5 with default settings, no post processing.

Guess the source?

Can someone convert them to thumbnail view? whenever I try, it always inserts full size!

Man, that second landscape is disturbing!

IQ is excellent, sharpness, contrast. I really like the distopian vista of the second one with it's reduced palette.

No idea what the lens is but it looks like a very good one.

Downloaded pics, then uploaded again using "upload picture" function (top right corner), you can do that yourself!

Great results, wonder what the lens is...

Looks military or industrial (scanner etc.)

PostPosted: Sun Nov 23, 2014 4:01 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Nope Smile

Not military, not industrial. I'm afraid to disclose source, since I believe, prices will jump up wildly Smile

from a video camera?

PostPosted: Sun Nov 23, 2014 5:08 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Interesting to see video camera, which has lens, covering APS-C sensor!

The "tele" end is approx 28mm and F2.4

This lens come from old, Epson DLP projector. I have lens from Optoma, Viewsonic, NEC projectors, will try them later.

p.s. this lens can be also used on sony SLT series, with raised mirror.

The lens does look very good. What city is this?

PostPosted: Sun Nov 23, 2014 7:16 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

I would believe these older projectors had nice lenses considering the cost. When I was 23, in 1993, the boss of the small I.T. company I worked for "split the cost" (I don't think we paid our share Smile ) of an inFocus projector with his father's medical practice. We were entering his home one day when he dropped it on brick stairs. As I watched it tumble, I remember thinking "that thing cost more than my car".

City?

Your guess?

Yes, now used projectors can be bought for almost nothing. I got these lenses by visiting local scrap recycling plant, and when I asked how much I'll have to pay for them, they said - "take screwdriver, help us take them apart and lens is yours." The interesting thing is, the way the coating looks, way it reflects things and overall build style gives me strong Tamron feel, have no idea, why.

Brilliant, and excellent pictures. The cityscape is superb.

PostPosted: Sun Nov 23, 2014 8:54 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

I Have a projector, but dont feel like ripping the lens out of it while its working. Perhaps a scrap proj would make a good donor. I'll ask the local skipyard.

That's a nice little find you have there.

Great stuff Smile

Same cityscape, this time early morning + Cokin gradual pink 2 filter, lens was Tamron 17-50/2.8 I think.

Interesting, I was also thinking it is some post-communist Europe, but my guess would have been Romania, one of the lesser, poorer cities. I has to be somewhere in Northern Asia then. Vladivostok? But these do not look quite like typical Soviet buildings. Ulan Bator?

Nice lens, intriguing country. Very Happy

Speaking distance-wise, it is relatively much closer to Bulgaria or Romania than Vladivostok or Ulan-bator, but still, several thousand kilometers Smile

Same area, night time (Kaleinar 3B 150/2.8 @ FCool:
