Another rare bird, no idea of mount yet but probably M42. Quite smart Tripod mount and slot in case.

I've got the same lens which I introduced here: http://forum.mflenses.com/tele-tokina-600mm-f8-t-mount-on-ff-dslr-sony-a850-and-dx-t71561.html

Quite a decent performer.

A rather rare bird, good catch.
There may be more than one version, the other had a "gunsight" device to aid in pointing.

The Kawanon 600/8 is rather more common.

Is the 'gunsight' version Tokyo Koki branded too or just Tele-Tokina? Suspect that it might be made a bit later. Seems to be quite different in design, more thoughts went into it so to speak.

My "gunsight" version as shown in the other thread is just marked as "Tele-Tokina". These tele lenses have been the first "Tokina"-branded ones at all. It's serial no. is in the 83xxxx range.

Ok, made in the early -70s then. Trying to figure out earliest date possible for the 'Tokyo Koki Tele-Tokina' series. Lowest nr seen so far is 29***. Mid -60s has been mentioned but wonder if they might be earlier than that.

I believe I saw an ad for the 400/6.3 from about 1963 or so.

That's right. According the Tokina's corporate history information the company name was changed in May/1971 into "Tokina Optical Co.Ltd." therefore all "Tokyo Koki" marked lenses must be older. However, I didn't find any information as to when this lens was first introduced. Same is obviously true for the 400mm and 800mm versions. They all have been sold in "Vivitar" branded versions as well.

Cropped from 6000 to 3000, resized to 1600. No other pp than shadows pulled down a bit.

Thanks, it's quite a nice lens. Moon was full, usually shoot it couple days before or after for better contrast. A bit more CA on f8, these was on f11. Next plan, put 10 Extension Rings on it and shoot some insects Wink

My moon shot from this night with my Tele-Tokina 600mm/F8 "moon lens", this time with additional Minolta 1.4 X APO converter on Lumix GX85:
