I know this is officially a MF lens forum but I've found the users here to be much more knowledgeable about lenses than anywhere else so I thought I'd throw this out there

I mostly use MF nikon glass but I need a wide zoom for video - I've used the Nikon 20-35 2.8 and liked it in the past, but lately been reading good reviews about the Tokina 20-35 2.8 which is supposedly all metal.

I would only be using manual focus as this would be adapted (nikon mount so I get the aperture ring) to a 5D III. Does anybody know how this lens fares as far as coma and general distortion?

Is the focus ring a nikon clutch type and how precise ( I prefer long throw ) is it? Anybody know if it turns the "nikon" way or the opposite?

I have the 3.5-4.5/20-35 and it's fantastic. Sharp from wide open, stopped down it's sharp right into the corners with no visible falloff of illumination. Some distortion but par for the course with an ultrawide. The consensus seems to be that the 2.8 version is bigger and heavier but not any better.

Some film shots:
