Lehman Brothers collapse in the US has had an immediate effect on the world economy and in the longer stretch it will affect my loans making them more expensive. _________________ Mr Scott please restrain your leaps of illogic. I have said nothing. I was merely speculating. |

I read about that. I hope it's won't take long and the world's economy will be again on the right floating line. I think it's the comumatorism or what could I call it (buy, buy, buy even if don't need it, no, take cretits/loans easily to buy buy buy .......... ). Just an oppinion.
PS. Of course there are other factors leading to this situation but this might be the most important, I think.
Here too you can see commercials on bank loans which five years or so were non existant. I understand to take a loan whrn your income can cover all the expenses (interest too) but when taking a loant to buy a tv set or a fridge or a polluting car (here you can easily walk, use the bicycle or the public trasportation, but, no "I must buy a car because everybody does"). I understand contries like US , Canada where distances are much bigger then in Europe but a good and well organised public transportation might solve this issue. Would lead to less expenses, less pollution, less accidents, etc. But that's only one aspect of this. _________________ Zenit E , Helios-44 58mm f:2.0 , Tair-11A 135mm f:2.8, Jupiter-9 85mm f:2.0

Well, guess I should stop buying all the collector cameras. Looks like all this buying I'm doing is affecting the world economy. Think I'm to late? _________________ Seymore...

However, his pride does not allow him to give you any such ridiculous impression. Look at it this way, buying cameras and lenses are investments. Currency come and go. But the cameras/lenses will be valuable still

It's about how we prioritise our resources. I like my appartment more than some fancy lenses.
As for the environment, basically everything we do have an impact.
The electricity used to power our computers, is it supplied from a Coal power plant?
That bread you ate this morning, how was the crop raised, what chemicals used?
That can of tuna you plan to have for dinner, how far has it been transported, how will you dispose of the metal can, will it be recycled?
That new bedsheet you just bought, what kind of paint was used to die it and how much of that paint will end up in a sea or lake without being sent through a cleaning process?
... the list is endless of what we choose to do or choose to ignore.
And to reconnect to what we do here please have a look at one of many Chris Jordan movies out there:

This is why it is better to collect fine wines, you can drink them when the economy falls and you just forget the whole thing .. _________________ AF: Canon, Tokina
