OK, I've been building up a rather large collection of lenses just recently, and haven't really had the weather to get outside and test them properly. This has left me a tad bored, so I thought I'd conduct a (probably totally unscientific) test of some of my recent Tamrons. They were all shot from a tripod located in the same place, attached to my Sony a200 as ever.
I struggled a bit with white balance (my camera's terrible indoors!) so needed a touch of pp from RAW to get them looking normal. It should be noted that the 58a produced the whitest images, the 103a were slightly yellower in appearance and the 670 aU's were very vintage looking indeed! Sharpening was left to Adobe's standard setting (whoops!) i.e. 25.
OK, the contenders:

Hope this is of some use to you out there! IMO, it looks like the 58a might be damaged as it REALLY struggled until F11. The 103a is simply stunning (IMO) and the 560aU is soft wide open but quite nice (and a handy focal length) stepped down a bit. _________________ Graham - Moderator
