So, I just did a batch for a gallery here on mflenses.com. But as I am looking thru them, I am thinking. "Holy moses, what do people want?".

Do you peoples want me to take as good shots as possible or do you prefer to see wideopen performance?

Both important! One or two wide open enough.

Raining ightly or wrongly what I've done so far is try and get at least one shot at all apertures and the odd shot showing how the lens copes in trickier conditions e.g. flare or close range distortion.

You take the pictures you like and try to make the best images you can. the last thing to try and do is to take photos to fit the tastes of a forum!
By all means post photos you normally would take that fit the subject of the forum but never change a lens or aperture if it isn't what the image requires.
If you want honest feedback about your work then join a good photo club (100+ active members) In the UK our best clubs are RPS (Royal Photo Sociaty) so the club has rules and standards that are set and controlled.
Or post to PhotoSig.

I took the original question to mean, what type of photos to best represent the lens that is being tested for the gallery.

I don't think saying you should shoot at different apertures and lighting conditions is conforming to the tastes of the forum. Unless I misunderstood, the photos are for judging the abilities and characteristics of the lens. By all means choose the subjects that appeal to you and can show the best (or worse) the lens can do.

What is the point of this comment? Rob do you not like our forum? If you don't think this group is viable then why are you here. I've been here just over a year. In that time our membership has grown with very high quality and fun people. We are a group of friends who learn from each other as we learn ourselves. Your comments make me feel like you are looking down your nose at our group. This is not the only comment you have made that makes me feel this way. I don't feel a need to list the others. If you need to be in the company of professionals and wanna-bees you should look elsewhere. Elitist BS is not welcome. Sad

I meant the test galleries of lenses. Those pictures I only take to test the lenses and to show how they perform. Smile

It's a logical question, as in this forum people like to share lens performance test photos. Some photos have that purpose, others don't. But what this forum is not, is a "good photo club" where professionals or wanna-bes show off their work. We just share pictures and have a friendly chat about them. While some people here are really good photographers, nobody is required to be and nobody has ever been looked down on for that. In my opinion, if that's not your vision of this forum, this is not the right place for you.
