Hi all,

Last Friday I have had the opportunity to goes in a park with only felines wilds animals so I took most of my telelenses and for the first time the huge Nikkor-Q 400/4.5... or it may be the reverse Laughing

Unfortunately the weather was grey and low light, so most of the pics are lack in colors and contrast. Anyway here is a first pic from the serie, taken on the EOS 5D with a Komura Telemore95 II x2 teleconverter:

Some heavy post-processing for WB and contrast here but no more enhancement.

More to come, without the teleconverter, and with other lenses too.

Cheers
Florent

Wow ! Nice one! Any full size (6MPx) sample without TC ?

The komura looks like a decent lens - that is pretty good with a 2x on it.

I will post some soon. It's not the sharpest lens anyway and I guess there are tons of better 400mm tele, but it's a rare lens and the seller could go to my home with it, so... I was tempted to get it !

The Komura Telemore95 II 7.K.M.C is the teleconverter itself Wink The lens is a Nikkor-Q 400/4.5.

Terrible lens I'll take it off your hands for a modest sum so that you don't feel so ashamed Wink

Any suggestion of envy is entirely correct Very Happy

The Beast in use :

And a full JPEG 100% export without post-processing, 800 ISO (so a little bit noisy); click on it to go to Picassa then clikc on "donwload" :

congrats Florent, you find a nice way to carry all your manual lenses Laughing
The minolta on your 5D is also brilliant, nobody will thief your camera
The nikkor 400 is great, lot of detail on the sample shot
only 748 shots with your 5D! I did that on the first day with my 40D Smile

It's so big that the original case is in wood and is nearly the size of the trolley's bottom pictured here.

Congratulations !!! Its good but its big, very big and on the 5D the 400mm stays 400mm. With some quality loss the 80-320 Pentax (AF) zoom can reach 480mm but only f:5.6 is the maximum aperture at 320mm and its quite soft with some CAs. Of course you could crop the photo and get a bigger focal lenght in a different way Smile

My goal was not to have a good tele; in fact I'm buying lenses that I can use as often as possible. This one didn't. But it was a rarity yet relatively cheap and no shipping cost...

And my 5D has done many more pics than the file numbers suggests Wink

Appart from the first one, the other 9 pictures below are taken with the EOS 5D without the teleconverter. The full size is available for download also.

Attila, you can include them on your gallery.

Please note that most all the pics of those cats were done thru a wired metalic net, thus some nasty bokeh / distortion is visible sometimes.

Cheers
Florent
