what a awful lens, it can't even hold 1024px web pics, or maybe m4:3 stress the lens too much

I found the definition poor, but of course it is my subjective interpretation

I think the lens is OK - I would say it's sharp!

What camera?

i use Olympus E-520 (for now, untill fortune falls out of the sky and i'm able to buy E-5 Very Happy )

this lens also has "macro" mode at 105mm ,but i woul prefer calling it close focus, it goes up to 1:4 magnification

close focus shot of the modelling manequin that is on my car's dashboard , it's about 10cm tall (about 4 inches)

WolverineX: Would you happen to know if it is the same optical formula as the 1st AF version in A-Mount? That one is my go-to lens when not using MF.

i really don't know, tryied the google but couldn't find anything good, all i can say is that this lens has 14 elements in 12 groups

Then maybe likely the same. The earlier of the AF zooms were 14/12 and then it changed to 12/10. The early one is the more highly regarded. I love mine and find it very sharp, very low CA, and dead on with its focusing. It's an early AF, so its a bit noisy. If what you have is the same lens in AF, I suggest holding onto it and giving it a good workout to properly assess. I have two galleries from mine; one misc, and the other from the Amelia Island Concours last year where this was the only lens I brought.

+1!
But my favorite stays the sad looking German Sheperd.

I think he is 5 - 6 years old (still hardly any gray round his mouth).
The way of looking doesn't depends on his age, but how he reacts on what he sees.
They have a great variation in expressions available!

Has fortune fallen out of the sky? Nice results. The Minolta 35-105 remains my go to lens for AF and the best of only two zooms I will use.
