Hi!

As I've promised, here are some shots with the Telear-N 3.5/200 at my EOS350D.

I shot this picture yesterday. There is a large chestnut tree in front of my office.

And the 100% crop from the yellow rectangle (No post production whatsoever!)

Today, I walked with my wife and my daughter through a nice park nearby. Here are some photos:

All photos were, unless stated differently, taken at f5.6 and with only very carefull USM after resizing. This lens is really sharp, so you easily oversharpen the pics.

(This was shot wide open: f3.5, freehand)

And now look at this one:

These little white "dots" are gnats, dancing in the sunlight.
You don't believe that? OK:

This is 100% crop, no sharpening! Shot at 1/60sec, remember it's a 200mm lens at an APS-C-DSLR!

BTW, all the pictures were taken without a tripod.

I guess, you know why I am pretty amazed by this Telear-N 3.5/200.

Cheers,
Carsten

Wow is right! All are good, my faves are the statue and the swan. How
much did that lens set you back? A definite keeper...

Thanks, Attila and Bill!

Bill, you won't believe it. I paid about 8,- (plus another 5,- for shipping) for this lens. It couldn't focus on infinity, but this was easy to fix.

According to Kadlubek's lens catalogue, the Telear-N 3.5/200 is worth about 100,-! And now that I know how good this lens is, I would maybe pay 100,-.

The "N" in the name means "Nikon-mount". I use this lens with a Focus-confirm-Nikon-EOS-adpater.

Seems you have made a bargain, Carsten. I missed that lens for a little. I was about to buy it, then I had communication problems with the seller and I decided to let it go.

It struck me that it seems to have Leica-like qualities, tough to describe,
an organic smoothness to the image Leica does...

Carsten, yes, absolutely a bargain! I haven't seen Telear lenses on US
Ebay, but will look for them! Smile

Thank God, you stopped to bid on that one, my friend!
Otherwise we would have been unknowing competitors.

The lens has become cheaper!!!

Have a look here: http://www.rugift.com/photocameras/telear_200_nikon_lens.htm

Rugift sells it for $58,- (plus shipping of $20-35,-). That still is a really good offer, I suppose.
$80,- are about Euro 60,- ... not bad.

No no, I explained myself poorly, I meant the same model of lens, not the same actual copy. Smile

BTW the copy I was following, went for something like EUR20 or 25.

OK, Orio.

Well it seems that the Telear is something like an insiders' tip.
Hurry up to get one, before the prices hit the roof as in so many cases...

Carsten, I come back to this thread several times just to check out the statue pic--you really got some decent results with this lens! Telears go
for $100+ in the states, but are well worth it!

Carsten, The statue pic is really great. The depth, the contrast.. and the colors.. at micro levels are really a result of dream lens.
I dont want to put more lenses in 200mm list, but not able to resist Smile
