Picked up a Tamron SP ,Adaptall 2 , 28-80 3.5-4.2 lens off of eBay for $25...Except for a pretty stiff zoom ring ( 2 touch zoom lens) it's in good shape. I took some quick snaps with it & it seems sharp & I like the color rendition, but I'm unsure as to whether I'm going to keep it because of the zoom ring....Anyone have any experience with tight zoom rings? Seller said it hasn't been used in awhile & that it should get better with use, but I'm skeptical... _________________ Cameras-Nikon D300, D7100,D610,FE2,FTN ,FT2,N90s, Olympus Pen EP-3 & Olympus OM-D E-M10

My 35-80 is like that, with a tightish spot on the zoom ring, but it's a lot to do with the mechanical design, imo. It's where the 60mm mark is - it goes in and out from there and at the 50mm point it gets a bit stiffer from there to 35mm. It's been heavily used, though optically fine, and it did get a bit better with use. I suspect it had lain around a while unused.
My 28-80 has a similar arrangement but it's like new in useage terms and is dead smooth in action. _________________ Dave - Moderator
