Hello Moïra !
It's nice to read your words.
No, I didn't have to do much PP in the white lily pictures.
Just WB correction and adjust the levels.
Then, export from raw to jpeg using LightRoom possibilities : resizing and standard sharpening for screen.
What kind of PP had you in mind for the whites ?
Is everything's okay for you ?
No dust storms, big fires, flood or anything like that ?
Here I wondered where was winter. Now It's here with snow and low temperatures (under 0°C up to -10°C sometimes during night).
Unfortunately we still have grey skies. In the last 10 days, we had some sun only yesterday morning.
On sunday snow felt gently all day long from 9 am to 6 pm...
Have a very nice week. _________________ Olivier - Moderator

Hi Olivier
The only issues for me are the occasional high temperatures of 40+ .
I asked about the PP on the whites because the whites look very good...much better than what I can do. I try and keep as much detail/texture on the leaves of the white flowers but lose out in the overall brightness of my image...you have kept a nice balance of both. _________________ Moira, Moderator

Oh, I see.
The white lilies were by the window and light was not very hard (grey weather...).
On the 5D Mark II there are 4 metering modes using 35-zone TTL full-aperture metering
• Evaluative metering (linkable to any AF point)
• Partial metering (approx. 8% of viewfinder at center)
• Spot metering (approx. 3.5% of viewfinder at center)
• Center-weighted average metering
I used last one which gives a good average exposure on the whole image. It seems Canon is the sole brand to have this feature.
Others like Nikon, Pentax, Sony, Olympus, use the 3 first ones.
Depending on your camera, you should try the different metering modes.
Else, if it doesn't act correctly, you can use the metering lock button (AE lock ?) on an average zone of the picture you want to capture, reframe and shoot.
What camera do you use ?

Beautiful lilies you got there, very nice series.
Lens performs quite good, did you use a tripod? cause i can see a bit of movement blur in some of them so I believe the lens can produce even sharper images (part of my work is to do macro photography of lilies and i got this little blur very often). Number 2 and number 5 are spot on though.
Unfortunately I had to leave my copy in my father in law's house in spain!! |

Thank you.
Sorry. I should have mentionned this point : all pictures handheld. No tripod used.
This is not a fast lens, so there could have some blur and, yes, the lens can be even sharper...
I've added the iso and shuter speed in the pictures posts. _________________ Olivier - Moderator

Yes i thought so.
It is not a fast lens indeed and also a bit heavy but for the price you can't go wrong, i got mine for 2 GBP.
Again, very nice results even more as it was handheld, as Mo said beautiful white.

Diddy, any pictures from your (26A) SP 35-210mm ?
adaptall-2.org tells us that the 60-300 macro ratio at 60mm is 1:1.55, 35-210's is 1:3.8.
Min focus in macro mode for the 60-300 is 0.3m at 60mm, 35-210's is 0.3m at 35mm.

People have to realize that it is really a short macro focusing distance with a long and heavy lens.

The 60-300mm lens looked first quite interesting to me as well, but then on adaptall-2.org they say that it has mediocre corner image quality. Does your experience with this lens reflect this? |

Diddy, I experience vignetting with the 5D at 60mm and quite a lot of CA.
Else, I don't find borders are so mediocre. They are less sharp than center, for sure, but not that bad. _________________ Olivier - Moderator
