The 300/6.9 and 200/5.9 are quite hard to find!

During my research I've seen only 3 distinct serial numbers of 300/6.9 (here on mflenses - one in posession of std, rockycameras and Polish auction portal which is now mine). Not big population I must say (and sample is so small that it is hard to estimate production volume).

Almost all the early Tamron presets have been seen as Soligors.
A few havent that I know of.
200/2.8
58/1.2

Anyone ever seen that Tamron/Soligor 58mm 1.2 in reality?

PostPosted: Thu Aug 07, 2014 5:43 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

The 58/1.2 has never been seen as a Sologor AFAIK.
That's why I said it was one of the only two Tamron presets never sold as a Soligor.
The other is the 200/2.8, also a rare lens.
Every other Tamron preset I think can be found in the Soligor brand, though they may be very uncommon.

I will try to take one for you. Similar in appearance to your 250/4.5.

The lens has a long family history. It belonged to one of my uncles who bought it new back in the 60s. His story is that he bought it to take pictures of then U.S. President Lyndon Johnson. In May of 1968 the president delivered the commencement speech at Glassboro State College, where my uncle was employed.

On that day, I was a student at the Glassboro Intermediate School. We were herded across town to the college baseball field where Marine One, the President's helicopter landed. Students lined the perimeter of the field and President Johnson walked around the perimeter shaking hands. I was one of the lucky students.

I never saw the pictures he made with the lens. He gave it, and his remaining Canon manual focus equipment to me some years ago. A few years ago his widow entrusted me with his Canon EOS gear. That made the decision to buy a Canon DSLR a no brainer.

Curiously, while the memory of shaking the President's hand is clear, I don't recall whether we marched to the college campus or rode the bus!!

Ran across another "T" series Soligor earlier today. Assume it also might have been made by Tamron, but do not know for certain. It does not, for me, have the "look and feel" of a Tamron. I did not bid this auction:

Just be a bit careful with that list.
Some of those marked as t mount weren't actually t mounts.
And in a couple of cases there were both t and fixed mount versions.
And also preset and auto versions.
Also variants in cosmetic aspects.
And of course many different brands.
And there are models missing from this list.
Its complicated.

The 58/1.2, 135/4.5, 135/3.5 were not t mounts. The 58 was a fixed mount. The 135/4.5 and 135/3.5 shared an interchangeable mount system but it was actually a smaller predecessor to the t mount. There were also a 140mm variant of the 135/4.5 - same lens actually, just marked that way.
The 35/2.8 was made in both t and fixed mount versions.
Etc.

Well, I'll be darned. So it is! Thanks, luisalegria.

It appears as if Nordentro's "T prefix" rule continues to hold. There is never a dull moment with MF lenses. Smile
