Anyone have one of these monsters. I am trying to hook it up with my Mamiya 645 1000s. I cut a whole in the body cap and the lens mounts to it just fine, but it is so heavy I am going to have to try a backup plan.
I was thinking of a banjo fitting, with a support bar to go from lens to camera body, tighten it as needed to lock everything together. |

I just tried to weigh it. Batteries are dead in the scale. It weighs about the same as my wifes bar bells, just a little under..... I give it say 7 lbs. easy.
With lens cap on of course. |

I am totally facinated with the site picture on this thing on my Mamiya. It throws more light on the viewer than I have seen in ages and a breeze to focus, even at F4.5.
My wife, who hates such experiments even agree's to go for it because you can see so well while focusing.
I had forgotten I had some more pictures of it on pbase pages. Its obviously the Tamron.
The other big honker is 5x7 I am building for giggles.

Cool !
I've heard of these, but never seen one.
Does this have a focusing mechanism ? From what I know of the Camerz cameras they had that built-in, and the lenses were just lenses and diaphragm, I have a few ex-Camerz lenses. If so you will have to rig a focusing mount. On the other hand, maybe the later Camerz equipment was different ?
As for simple mounting, how about a two-sided lens board ? The lens has a flange with screw holes; that goes on one side. On the other would go a male lens mount for Mamiya, maybe taken from an extension ring or reverse adapter or something. I did something similar for my 10" Elgeet lens that came off a Beattie-Coleman, akin to the Camerz. This lens is MUCH larger though.
I agree that plastic body caps aren't going to cut it.
Fascinating stuff. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

It has a focusing ring, also a lock down feature at each focal length (75mm, etc. up to 150mm, all analog, no electronic on it at all.
I thought of using an extension and modifying it too. Just got my new KEH catalog today ($39 would seem to be the magic number). So far, I like the banjo mount best, I put on one as a test fit tonight and you cannot move it unless you hook up a come a long to it.
I have two Beattie long rolls for my Mamiya RB. You can't get this stuff this cheap if you were in the scrap metal business and one can only guess what it costs new. |

Actually, that picture doesn't come close to the size of this thing. It is much bigger than it looks.
I just found a couple of examples of the output of the lens. Disregard camera because they are just a box to hold the film and lens. I am betting for instance a bw capture is going to be pretty fantastic, especially since it is so easy to focus correctly.
Click on any one of the pictures for a larger version.
