I bought this lens from my friend and it had warranty for couple of months. Now after one month after warranty void, it broke.

After taking picture, camera says err 01. Clean contacts. Anyway it takes the picture.

I took the lens to local fixer, Tamron specialist. They says it have to change the diaphgarm assy. Warranty is void and I have to pay the fix. Allright, part costs 46€, not bad, I can do it. But the 2 hour work costs 160€!!! +VAT.

Is it very difficult to change by myself?

Pretty shame this high cost... I think not difficult , I suggest to buy an 5 EUR Tamron lens any what you find now and try it out first that lens to open and rebuild again. You can ask a quote from my friend who is an excellent repair man, but postal cost is also in game. We are in EU so perhaps not too much. My guess friend of mine able to fix it around 40-50 EUR+ 30 EUR postal cost to both way.

Thanks Attila for your offer and response.

However, I had some luck with my insurance, which covered the invoice fully.
