Is anybody able to show me the link with SMC Takumar or Super Takumar 4/35? Information about this lens is very limited. I have Takumar 4/35 and I am interested in difference between this one and newer version.

There is no Super Tak or S-M-C 4/35 listed in the official Asahi Operating Manual for Takumar Lenses.

I saw again pictures, perhaps this is an earlier model , Takumar or auto Takumar.

Thats the early Takumar. Made in the 1950ies i believe. Single coated I think. Looks damn nice for being 50 year old. Didnt know it was preset though. Must be one of the first M42 lenses they made. Before that one it was M37.

The Auto-Takumars that came out roughly at the same time 56-59 i think, also had mixed black and aluminium finish. The super-tak and S-M-C taks are all black.

This site doesn't have the f/4

http://www.taunusreiter.de/Cameras/Pentax_Takumar_Collection.html

This site mentions it:
Predecessor of the 35/3.5 was the slightly larger Takumar 1:4 f=35mm (Preset-Lens) for the Original Pentax (AP), S and K series, which was the first Japanese wideangle SLR lens ever. It was build from May 1958 - Autumn 1959. They seem to start with a S/N of 156,xxx and ending in the 214,xxx area, whereas the first 35/3.5. (which is much more common) is known with a S/N of 246,xxx. (see actual figures at M42-Database) There are different statements about lens configuration, whether it was build as a Retrofoucs Tessar (5 elements) or -Triplet (4 elements). It has clickstops at full f/-stops. Through the finder, it can be seen that brightness is significantly improved with the f/3.5 lens.

the main page for this fantastic early Pentax site:

From the Cecchi book 'Asahi Pentax and Pentax SLR 35mm cameras 1952-1989':
"With the triumph of the Asahi Pentax line, the range of Takumar lenses increased. This six-element wide-angle lens with preset diaphragm was introduced, but Asahi Optical's first wide-angle lens was fairly short-lived and was followed by others [with] revised optical design"

Thanks everybody for all information. When I tried to find something about this lens I was redirected to site where was the list of M42 and PK lenses including SMC Takumar 1:4/35. This is the reason that I posted my question this way.
BTW SN of my lens is 169727 and it really in "store new condition", with case, front "push-on" plastic cap and rear aluminum screw cap. And I think that it is sharp even wide open. Below next sample and crop.

I admit: I'm jealous, I love the early lenses. But of course I'm more glad for you... that is one beautiful lens + case also. The whole aesthetic is vintage luxe - back when luxe meant functional and durable.

From memory this is a very early 35mm lens designed for Pentax SLR cameras. In fact I believe that I read it was the first such one in this focal length. Check out this page (half way down the page.) http://www.taunusreiter.de/Cameras/Pentax_Takumar_e.html

They are a bit rare but I have bid on one previously on eBay (I missed out). The lens is in the old style (ie it does not even have a preset aperture - it is fully manual which probably makes it a bit of a pain to use.)
