Hi,
what to look for on ebay to make sure that I am buying a real Super-Takumar 50mm f1.4 with 8 optical elements and not a fake or another model?

The easiest way is to look for the IR mark.
For the 8 element it should be on the right of the f4 DOF mark
If it is on the left, between the 4 and the 8, it will be a 7 element lens

The Super Takumar version 1 (8 elements) has serial numbers from 766024 to 1581354. Version 2 (7 elements) goes from 1554929 to 4648289. Another difference is the product number on the rear of the A/M lever. Version 1 has n° 35800. Version 2 has n°s 37800, 37801 and 37802.

That's indicate a better chromatic (more apo'ish) correction on the 8 elements (less focus shift)
