I love the genre too! But personally I am not into the strange postwork like picture #1, because for me, it subtracts the spontaneity of the street scene.
Of course it is my personal view.
In fact I prefer your B&W-only ones.

I like no 2. Nice work.

Your kind of colourkey in No.1 is nicely done, but I would here agree to Orio. I would have preferred simple b/w in this scene. Sometimes I really like it, but it's a rare occasion when it fits to street photography.

Generally, you captured the musicians well.

And I understand why you love this lens - it is a great one!!!

N° 2 is best for me.

I find 50mm a bit short for street fotography!

Really? Too short?
Most of the street photography was shot with "real" 35mm-lenses. Confused

I think there is a difference between "street" and "candid" photography...

No. 1 for me - but also without the colorkey.

thanks for all the reactions guys, I really appreciate getting an honest response Smile

Iknow about the red accents in some of my b&w photos, some people like it a lot, some don't like it at all. I don't intend to make a habit of it, but sometimes I just can't pass up the oppurtunity to do it Wink
I like it a lot myself, and that's why i keep doing it, not because I don't agree with people who don't like it. It's all personal taste really...

But..by request, here it is without the red:

Which makes (in my personal opinion) of it the best of the bunch and a really beautiful photograph in it's own terms!!

There is something sweetly sad about this man (I am not able to express it better), poetic, that was killed by that red accent.

Agreed, much better!!! Very Happy

Lovely pictures Tom. I don't have anything against the red colour, except it's a very common technique in advertisements and it makes your picture look more like an advert for the accordion.

Judging by the amount of money he's collected, I can see I need to bring my trombone over to Belgium! Smile

Great captures, especially like the last version where you used Visine
on the accordion! Wink

I am not a people photographer at all, I like first shoot better than others.

Well, I think that your best photographs in your albums are the portraits. So how about that? Laughing

P.S. and that window shot too!

Smile Yes, right. I like to shoot portraits, perhaps take shoots from people too even if I not like them Smile

Hahaha, I had to google "visine" to get that one :p

Thanks for all the kind reactions Smile

Oh, btw, I always keep some spare change in my pocket when I make these shots. I'd feel like a "parasite" if I just took a picture and walked away without giving anything back, and these musicians always appreciate it when you give them something, even it's only a little, just as a sign of respect.

Oops, I found a street musician in my pictures taken with Sigma 70-300 APO DG.

Nice one, Attila! Can you cut and paste him on a rooftop? Laughing

Bill

Surprised

PostPosted: Fri May 04, 2007 8:35 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Well, he doesn't much resemble Topol, anyway... Wink
But then again, Topol wasn't the guy on the roof.

Do you remember the song he was playing?

Bill

Now I got you, thanks for more explanation.

Yes sometimes Bill's jokes can be really cryptic! Laughing

It was a good one, in my mother language no problem to catch "pianist on the roof", but if need to translate joke not always clear for me.
