Recently, I had developed likings for Steinheil lenses, I come across this Steinheil Munchen Quinar 85mm f3.5 but could not find much info on the internet or Google. I found it here.

I wish to know more about this lens, especially the mount. It looks like M42 to me or is it smaller than that ? _________________ Photos and Lenses Journal

I bought that lens and had to return it.
The threads are Leica M39 and it has an RF coupling cam.
It is not an LTM lens however. Best I could figure out with help from a friend was that it was a Braun Paxellete (sorry if that is spelled wrong).
Anothe 39mm RF cam but with different back focus.
Stay clear from this unless you are using m4/3 camera.
Cute little lens. I wished it had worked out. _________________ Moderator |

Braun PAXETTE, register is not LTM (28.8mm) but 44mm (a short tube could have corrected that though). There are such tubes on teh market, russian made, 15.2mm long _________________ Klaus - Admin

44mm? Hmmm... EOS is also 44mm. I just wonder if that could work with a screw mount. It would have to be similar to those M42-PK-adapters. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

I snagged one of these and snapped a few photos with it.
I use a nex m42 close and various m42 helicals and tubes.
Marvellous lens. Single coated i believe. I did not have a hood which would likely help with contrast. Great colors and very sharp wide open. At 3.5 it is not fast but gives nice bokeh.
It was overcast so the lighting was quite muted. _________________ photos are moments frozen in time |

Hmmm That lists 4 elements. Ss likely a tessar type. Anybody know if it is derived form a culminar type plan? Seems likely. _________________ photos are moments frozen in time |
