I don't have too much money but I would like to buy some interesting lens. I found two interesting M42 lenses: Mamiya Sekor 1.4/55 and Meyer-Optik Telemegor 5.5/400. Both lenses are rather rare and (I think) - valuable. Stark choice! Probably I'll try to bid Telemegor because I don't have any ultra-telephoto lens and I love its ancient design. Is it worthwhile buying one of these lenses? I'll be waiting for your valuable opinions Smile

Hi Hubert,

the Mamiya went over 200€ on ebay.de a few weeks ago... The 1,8 is much, much cheaper.

And also a very good lens!

I can buy the fast version (1.4/55) for 180 PLN (~50 €). The lens is in very good condition - it has only one micro-scratch near the edge of rear element. Any other scratches, haze, fungus or dust Smile

But... I love Telemegor's design. Really stark choice! Probably I'll try to buy both lenses Wink

Do you have alot of subjects that require such a long tele? I’m jealous! I could never find enough to shoot to reconcile the buy. Especially if you have to lug it along on every nature trek...Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to grab it at a reasonable price.

Its surprising how useful a long tele can be, particularly if it focuses fairly close.

Maxim
I don't think anyone here has kept to any kind of budget yet!

idk if this is a good deal or not but I found the mamiya attached to a zenit:

or this one:

Says there are some cleaning marks...but otherwise it might be in ok condition.

Thanks for your replies, colleagues!

Marc: I'll try to bid the Telemegor. I have two telephoto lenses (the Trioplan 100mm and the Tair 135mm) but they are too short to photograph wild animals. I want to take some animal's pictures, so I need a long tele (of course I'll be using my tripod). Roe deer, foxes, wild boars, badgers and many bird species (e.g. beautiful white herons) live in my region. Marc - thank for the links... what a low prices!

Luisalegria - Telemegor focuses from 6m to infinity. It may be a great lens, long and fast enough for my use! Eventually it may be a nice lens for my small collection Laughing

Patrickh - money is for fulfil dreams Smile So... I'll try to grab these lenses.

I've just grabbed the Mamiya/sekor 1.4/55.
The price was quite low: 180 PLN (for comparison - MC Sonnar 3.5/135 costs between 300 and 400 PLN in Poland; 1€ = 3.6 PLN). The lens is in excellent optical condition, only one small (almost invisible) scratch near the edge of rear element. I'll be waiting for the parcel Very Happy
