cute!

I had a chance to play with my a7 all afternoon. I'm not in love with the ergonomics. I'd prefer if the top plate was sloped forward a bit. as it is, I am flexing my index finger a bit unnaturally so I can use the C1, front dial and shutter button. hopefully I get used to it.

+1.

Just wondering if it is worth opening a new sub-forum under Digital Rangefinders for Full Frame Mirrorless and move some of these posts there. They provide some good early samples and info about the camera.

Thank you for the kind comments Smile

Here's the manual: https://docs.sony.com/release/ILCE-7_7R_guide_EN.pdf

P.s. Setting Display Quality to "High" gives a more OVF like experience in the EVF (less jagged edge effects / moire). It does use more battery power though, and some might like the jagged effect to confirm focus.

I found a good deal on Cameta:
- Sony VG-C1EM Vertical Battery Grip for Alpha A7 & A7R Camera
- Sony PCK-LM16 Semi-Hard Sheet LCD Screen Protector for Alpha A7 & A7R Camera
- Spare NP-FW50 Battery for Sony
- Battery Charger for Sony NP-FW50
- Precision Design 6-Piece Camera & Lens Cleaning Kit
$299

They also have similar A7(R) packs with 64BG SDXC card or a tripod for $299 Wink

They seem to sell worldwide. How much do you add for taxes ?

Yes, it those, Norway has 25% MoreValueTax (as they call it) Confused

So 75USD extra, but it is still much cheaper than Norwegian stores. I will only get the grip for that price here...

Hi Nordentro,
what about your Takumars ? How do they perform with the Sony?
I am thinking of buying this camera just to give mine a new life.
Thanks
Philippe

Takumars are very nice. It will be a good match. I have only tested the 50mm f/1.4, but I can post pictures of others if you want Wink

Quick test shot with my black Jupiter-8...seems fairly decent for a small package!

Pfff... I would get some chinese NP-FW50 batteries (~7€ each), an chinese charger (~10€), original LCD screen protector (~20€) and some other cleaning tools (20€) instead of this expensive package.

Interesting!
The D800 is among the best DR. Not sure what value tester set it to
In my experience, one single shot can be as good as HDR with 2 or 3 frames.
DR value in D800 also produce non natural dark/light, so I used to have it at average or a bit above average.
The results from A7r are very good.

Size and weight matter, but the reason to keep d800 is AF and long tele.

Of what ?

The two cameras or the two lenses ?

From the "review" ...

really like that, is the A7 weather sealed?

PostPosted: Thu Dec 19, 2013 8:48 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Thanks guys. The camera is apparently weather resistant. I was comfortable with taking it out in the rain after watching the digital rev video where kai tipped water all over the a7r Very Happy

There is a video out there, where someone is washing the camera under a running water-tap.
