I didn't know that Pentax made lens in L39 or M39 screw mount. Did they make just this one or some other focal length too?

See here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SMC-Pentax-L-43mm-1-9-Leica-Screw-Rangefinder-L39-M39-LTM-w-box-Very-NICE-/151157848342?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item2331b5b916

Did anyone here owned this lens? I am just curious... Any impressions, pictures, etc... Confused

It is their 43 limited in MF Leica version. The interesting thing here is that some of he limiteds are made with special SMC ghostless which is great in flare control and this is one of them. The lens is that long because it is pancake for SLR so... I have seen many samples from the lens on pentax - nothing special. For DOF maniacs - no, for little standard lens maniacs - not bad. It is 43mm because this is the lenght of the diagonal of the 36x24mm frame - perfect normal lens.

That would be an amazing lens for my M8. :-$

All Pentax limited lenses are SMC except for the newer ones that are HD as Ricoh has renamed their new crystal coatings. I was very surprised to come across one of these Leica mount 43mm Pentax limited lenses recently. I never knew they existed. Pentax couldn't have made many of them, but who knows for sure? I am only speculating. Cheaper to buy a Pentax version. $450.-480. on a good day.

Still I would think the L version a very rare lens. Who ever sees one? I bet nobody here has one. Please someone prove me wrong. It will only make me happy!

As did some research on the net it looks like that they made only 2000 of them... That's also stated on the ebay listings too.

I would consider that a decent limited edition. Thank you for info.

Most of pentax lenses are SMC, but only a few are using SMC ghostless, I think 31, 43 and 77 are the models.

Seems like a very solid investment.

On the rangefinder forum they are having excellent results but I am not registered there and cannot see the pictures.

Some more info: 800 were made in silver and 1200 made in black.

EDIT: I found on the flickr some examples: http://www.flickr.com/groups/l-special/pool/ but not all of them are taken with L39 lens.

Here are some examples:

actually the price is not expensive.

on Minolta CLE

( taken from this interesting thread: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/151003-pentax-branded-m-lenses.html )

sure also makes a nice fit on an A7

The FA43 ltd. Pentax K version can be had for about half to two thirds of this price, only weighs 155 grms

without it's hood could be called a pancake

the L special is about 20mm longer to compensate for the difference in register distance, I read, and that it is the only lens that Pentax produced in M mount.
Now that Pentax is owned by Ricoh I should mention the Ricoh GR f2.8/28mm in M mount, I believe that earlier Ricoh also made some RF lenses in M39

Just learned about this one.

Want.

In LTM Smile

Reminds me of the Contax 45, very sharp but harsh OOF.

Looks nice, indeed.

The Ricoh GR 28mm/2.8 in LTM doesn't look bad as well: Click here to see on Ebay Wink
However, both RF lenses would be presently slightly over budget for me. Crying or Very sad

BTW, the shown FA43 ltd. reminds me a little bit on my Pentax-M pancake 40/2.8, which is also an extraordinary lens (only adding 18 mm when mounted).

Slightly off subject but I have a few Pentax Ghostless front filters which are quite rare.
