My Super-Takumar has 43741 on the a/m switch so it must be model II |
If the switch labels are auto/man not a/m, then yes a model II.
Gerjan lists that number also for later model I, and, early model II had a/m switch labels. |
It seems my copy is version one after all. Although it has all the signs of version two the rear element is narrower like version one and the rear retaining ring also looks like v1. This is information Gerjan and Takumarology guide seem to have missed.
On top is mine, the bottom 2 are the comparison in Gerjan's book. Left 2 and right 1
My serial number.
Also found another 2xxxxx serial that seems to be the same as mine.

So at least some updated bodies seem to have the old lens elements in them. I have bought an S-M-C version to compare. It'll take a few weeks to get here. I will probably have to look for a true V1 with the older product number as well.... and maybe a V2 with wider rear element..... _________________ pentaxian |

I checked ebay and found some more samples. Here a comparison between a 234xxxx and 385xxxx serial. Clearly different.

That's nonsense, of course. Both images taken from exatly the same position, using a sturdy tripod.
Guess which one is the Konica 40mm, and which one the Minolta 45mm
If we enlarge the Konica image to 112.5% (=45/40) it theroretically should fit the Minolta image. It does, proving that the focal lengths are 45mm/40mm:
