It's been a while since my last shots on this forum. Sometimes I'm in another state of mind, playing with AF lenses (GOOD ones!) but I always come back to my manual focus primes.

Just got myself a very nice SMC Pentax K120/2.8. A nice lens which reminds me very much of the K105/2.8 (although this K120 seems sharper than the K105 I had).
It's a typical Pentax focal length. There were hardly any brands with so many choices between 85 and 200mm: 85mm, 100mm macro, 105mm, 120mm, 135mm, 150mm, 200mm. I still don't know why Asahi felt the need to produce them.

Funny: it's only 0,5cm longer than the K28/2 (the Distagon 'Hollywood') Smile

A few quick testshots:

1.

2.

3. Crop of no. 2.

4.

5.

6.

Because they sell Wink There is something attractive with regards to tele lenses - see, I am the proof, I keep buying them Embarassed

Nice photos, seems you have another very good lens in your hands!

Well, certainly not in the case of this 120mm lens. The K120 lenses are downright rare and go for silly money (the last one I saw for sale on Pentaxforums went for US$250).

Only Italians (which generally have a good taste) appreciate good quality Wink

Oddly, on Ebay, the K's go for less than the Takumar ones. I still have 4 of them, but altough it is a very good lens for portraiture (was designed to that), very few people are interested in. BTW, nice shots, as usual, you know how to exploit these beautiful lenses Smile

Thanks! Of course the M42 go for more thanks to the broader audience interested in such a lens. To speak in IT terms: the K is more closed-source while the M42's are open-source Smile

Hopefully this topic will get people a little more interested in the oddball lenses from Asahi. I'm going to use my K30/2.8 a bit more in the coming days.

I have the SMC Takumar 120 f2.8. Is there any difference in optics between the two lenses?

No, those lenses should be the same optically.
