Just practicing my sports photographer skills. Finnish national championships, some junior class? Don't know anything about horse riding ..

No, that is the main problem, not so used to follow movement. That is why the "practice sports" thing. All of them pretty shaky on 100%.

Not bad practice shots....I understand your problem...I think the key is practice and technique Very Happy I have tried sports shots with my son playing rugby and find I am just to slow with manual focusing. Sad

Slow shutter and missed focus for all of them.
You should've used an AF lens for this particular occasion.

Not necessarily as you know where the horses will be so you can pre-focus and concentrate on taking the shot.

Not so easy thing to master. Sad

In every photo, the movement is away from you, and the rider and the horse are looking away. You could try to find a place where the movement is towards you.

I think I was in the wrong place. All sports photos you must know the sports itself so that you know where they go and what they do. Did take some shots where it comes towards me but they were boring ones. Horses look more dynamic from the side I think.
