I picked up this thing (yet another M42 135, jeez, who needs that ?) along with a batch of other Sears lenses I was collecting.

This is of a later generation of Sears lenses than I'm interested in. I'm noting it here because I have identified its maker. This is a Cosina, as it is identical to a Cosina-brand 135 I have seen in every respect except the name on the front. I think it was sold by Sears along with the Sears 2000 camera, which was actually a version of the Cosina Memotron. These replaced the Ricoh TLS and Mamiya cameras as Sears "house brand" SLR at some point in the 1970's, maybe by 1975-76.

There has been some speculation here about lenses that may or may not be Cosinas. This is for certain one of them.

As a lens it is completely conventional and very representative of cheap mid-1970's primes. It does still have the auto-manual switch, which were going out of use at the time.

As for performance - well, nothing special but not bad.

Great. This one looks good. Usually Cosina lenses are good is not very good. In the '90 and later years the construction for their budget lenses contains more plastic but regarding the optics they are ok is not very good.
Same Cosina manufatures those great Zeiss and Voiglander lenses.

I've got the Cosina made Porst MC 135mm f:2.8 (same as this I think http://www.mflenses.com/content/view/132/ ) and I like it very much. Good sharpness, good colours, good resistance to flare is smaller and less heavier than the Tair 11A 135mm 2.8 lens Smile
