Scanning experiment

I finally figured out how to manually select scanning area on the 4490:
you have to uncheck the "Thumbnails" box under the Preview button, then
you can use the Marquee to select scanning area. The first shot I left a
little of the film margin top and bottom and used Bibble processing:



and this is an earlier effort using just PS:



Ricohflex Dia L pic. Which one is better, or neither?

I like the colors a little better in #2 but you can see the wood under the water and other details better in #1.

Are you using bibble 4.10? Bibble 5.0 is almost ready for sale with free upgrade if you have the earlier version, I think.

#2 is overcontrasted with some blown out part and too many blacks. To get the best results you should use different layers in PS and mask out some parts.

Alessandro, I agree, the second one doesn't resemble real life. I shot this
during the same time frame with an Oly 35RC (had 3 cameras with me) and
this is using cheap Wallies Fujicolor 400 film, 35mm:



Colors are VERY accurate to what I remember seeing, and pretty good
detail for a 35mm pic. I don't think my current algorithm for medium format
scans is very good, back to experimenting.
