What wavelength of the light should one try to have? UV-A or UV-B? UV-C is out of the question I guess. Wink

Ive been looking at using UV-A 380-395 at 2000mcd, 50 of them leds pointing straight into the lens. Any math/light geek that could translate that into usable information? Would that be enough to light it for a few weeks?

Hard to say. I would just try and take a comparative shot every week. You'll see Very Happy

Use b&w and don't worry about the color cast Smile

I had taken this shot for here, you can check the biggest file to see how this lens performs:

I'm using the caps of my MF lenses to assist in focusing as my both eyes are suffering from myopia and astigmatism at the same time Smile

Yes you're right, I'm still in the phase of learning to use my new (old full Manual Sunpak 422D) flash. For these shots I've made a home made diffuser from A4 white sheet and this one is the test shot as you can tell from the cap on the eye. Full manual lens + Full manual flash + camera on Manual mode (Canon's M) = I need time to get use to it Smile

This one is the best of the series but it has PS touch on the skin:

how do you position the A4 sheet as diffuser? is the flash pointed directly at the target? off-camera? pointed at a wall?

thanks...

I use an empty filmcan, the transparent type that Tmax comes in. I cut a hole in the side of it and slide it over the flash ;D

It's nothing special just a 2 mins application of a quick idea but can be improved easily Smile I've bought wireless receivers from gadget infinity and they're on the way to me at the moment so until they arrive I don't have to opportunity to use lens away from the camera. In this shot, flash was mounted on the camera and directly pointed to the model and I guess 1/4 was enough as I used a large aperture to decrease the waiting time on recycling.

And my A4 sheet diffuser:
1- Fold the paper from the middle, repeat this once more
2- Now cut the paper equally from both sides to be able to mount it on the flash head (rubber can be used here, I don't know the exact word to use here Smile)
3- Enfold the long part from the cut towards the lens. This long part will be the diffuser part.

As I said this was a quick work, nothing special or very effective Smile
And I know that the text is not that great so I requested the photo from my sis, it will be added as I get it.

here is the picture:

I've this beauty; should I need/buy another 50/1.4 ?
The other is not an ordinary lens so let's be specific: Should I buy a Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50/1.4 (C/Y) if I found under 100$, will be an improvement in quality ?
