Straight from camera jpg didn't need to improve contrast.

Very good indeed! The Russian has a tradition of making high quality mirror optics.

Very nice. I missed on one because I was too cheap.

That's amazing. I know and plan to find only one mirror lens, the MTO-11CA 1000/10, but now I can add one more.
Attila, I found one under selling for $400, is it acceptable price?

very rare sought after lens, I sold mine perhaps 250-300 USD, one of the price less lens , if you can afford it, take it.

Snagged the deal I was mentioning before last week, but work and weather have prevented a test run. (Deal was the 500/5.6 1000/10 and 300/4 not sure on the f on the 300 tho) anyway all lenses all with original cases and filters in near mint condition for 700 USD not stellar deal but certainly respectable)

5.6/300 Rubinar? That's a prize.

I was not familiar with it but had seen Attila's and flickr photos from the 500 and was lusting after that lens, its not often on ebay and just happened to show up on craiglist 1 hr drive from home in Eugene, Oregon. I asked and Attila indicated the deal was pretty good so I jumped on it. I am off tomorrow hopefully the weather will be decent long enough to give them a try.

Fantastic! Contrast is great too.

I picked up a well-used Rubinar 1000 f/10, and it's quite sharp.
It must be close to being the same size as your f/5.6.

I finally got the Rubinar 500mm f5.6 after reading from this forum. And I was amazed at the images I have gotten thus far. Of course I would not say it is sharper than my Canon 300mm f4L (partly because I am still trying to get use to manual focusing) and shooting fast moving bird in flight is impossible for me. And I find that hand holding it while shooting was very very difficult unless I push up the shutter speed to at least 1/600 or more... even with EM5's excellent IS system.

But all in all... pretty happy with the US$200 spent on this lens.
