New last known for 99B. Do you by any change still have photos of the lens. Were there really two zero's?

I'll try to do a thorough check later ....

Ponctuation is different on some lenses... you may need to take note of that...
I think there is also two sets of capital letters ...

But i'm not sure all of this is relevant.... i thought there was all of these inf in that "Topcon Story" book....

Like many things, it could be missing some information.

RE, Auto-Topcor 100mm 2.8 s/n 75055231, silver.

Another discovery. Black Navy 87-205 was not mentioned by A&R.

My one and only RE Topcor is a black 35mm f2.8 serial number 7420672. It has a silver rim to the front of the filter ring and just beneath the hood bayonet. Text is all white and all capitals (except f and mm):

RE AUTO TOPCOR 1:2,8 f=35mm TOKYO KOGAKU 7420672

Green dot to indicate focus position. White text for meter scale, aperture and depth of field markings. Orange text for feet scale.

This may be a new version:
http://kevincameras.com/gallery/v/topcon/lens/100_2.8/7516194/DSCN4807.JPG.html No 'N'
http://kevincameras.com/gallery/v/topcon/lens/100_2.8/7516194/DSCN4810.JPG.html But Infinity lock.
The Topcon Story says the last serial # was 7511339, but this lens is 7516194

PostPosted: Fri Apr 11, 2014 3:56 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

That particular lens is already in the first post. I don't know about the infinity lock. What it is for and is it common among RE Auto Topcors?

PostPosted: Fri Apr 11, 2014 12:35 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

The infinity lock is normally on the Navy versions, so in the heat of battle the lens doesn't get focused closer and ruin shots.
My black 100/2.8 has no infinity lock, so it's definitely a different animal.

Thanks Cavin. Somehow I no longer received the notification so I missed the latest posts.

I am confused by these two lenses. I need to double check with the book.

If we assume that the lenses had not been tempered with, neither fits especially well in Antonetto&Russo's framework.

The "a" sample has lower case lettering, FL in cm, and most importantly has a kidney-shape grooving on the back. Therefore it seems to fit the description of 112B v1. However, it is in black...

The "b" sample also has lower case lettering and FL in cm but already lost the grooving. So it is likely an early sample of 112B V1(variation) before the FL unit changed to cm.
