No, in practice, no difference. It was a marketing symbol used on export items. They may have undergone more rigourous QC half a century ago when newly minted but that is obfuscated by the passage of time and the rigours of use.

The quality should be the same but there will be a small difference in price if you put it for sell. Laughing

Q1, or 1 in triangle... does not mean, that the one lens, you have in your hands, was specially tested.
It is a quality mark of the actual production-line of the lens. A special office, the Amt für Material- und Warenprüfung settled special standards in production (without having the lens/amplifier/toaster tested!), the product and the production must have fullfilled. To receive the quality sign, there had to be a continuing innovation during production, of the circumstances of production, reducing costs of production, saving recources ...
Usually the Q1 was given for a period of 3 years.
When innovation, or cost reducing, or production quality stopped or slowed down, the product would get just a 1 in triangle. Although it is the same lens with the same optical and technical performance.
Older lenses or modern lenses exist without quality sign. The modern ones often do not have it engraved. It is printed on an added piece of paper.
Getting a lower quality mark would mean for the factory to get less or no money back as a bonus.

The following signs were used:
Q1, S in tringle, 1 in triangle, 2 in triangle, empty triangle

So much about the fairy tales of the quality marks of former GDR

Many thanks Klaus!!

In my experience marking are mostly not important 1Q, RED T , with all marking you can less good item or excellent.
Well used item often sign of excellence, people not use item a lot with so so performance , everything can be possible with old lenses, need a bit luck always except if you buy Contax Smile I never seen similar stable quality from any vendors like Carl Zeiss Contax SLR series.
