Did I praise enough Zeiss cleaning towels?
Nothing clean lenses like them to my experience, and I have tried many products.
They leave absolutely zero traces, they remove everything is on the lens.

Before them, I used to never clean lenses until really necessary. But now I feel much more confident. After a whole day out photographing, like yesterday, the lenses may have gathered dirt on the surface, even if not visible to human eye. But especially if you have been in lawns, your lens might have gathered micro biological stuff including spores.
So I took as habit to always clean front glass of lenses after a long day out like yesterday (not if I just take it out for an hour). With the Zeiss towels I am confident about doing it, only precaution is to blow pumpet on glass before passing the towel, to remove possible dust.
To store lenses that have clean glass means less risk of fungus activity.

Last but not least, the Zeiss towels are really cheap. Much cheaper than other products like the Eclipse fluids for instance.

Thanks Orio
I have seen these and wanted to try them. We don't have a place that sells them locally. I will have to order some from e aye. Your report is very useful. The marketplace is so full of items it is hard to weed out good products from really great ones. Of course the word Zeiss on the package is a dead giveaway for this one Wink

And, of course, even before you use a cleaning towel, be sure to blow as much dirt as possible off your lens.

Either compressed air, or even some good strong breaths on the lens, will take away at least a good share of the larger grit.

If you can follow that with a soft brush, it would be even better.

No sense wiping that grit around, even with the best cleaning towels...

Wow! I've been doing this for years! Shocked

Perhaps I haven't had a problem because I only do this when I'm in a cleaning process with my b&h lens wipes at my side. Question Confused

Or maybe I've just been lucky?

To get fungus highly depend from storage , if you use your lenses frequently and air humidity level rare going above 60% , store without caps. You do a lot for your lenses In any other case you risk them to get fungus. Hard to recognize fungus at the beginning. Perhaps you eat lot of spice and kill them Wink

My breath is like the rose.... Razz

I am glad to learn that I may be doing harm to my lenses by blowing on them from my lungs. I will use a touch of compressed air only -- and always just a LITTLE blast at that. Follow up with the camel's hair brush and the lens cleaning cloth (only if needed).

Yes Larry, blowing off dust before cleaning is mandatory - I think I mentioned it, or did I forget?

As for purchase, I bought mine on Ebay, from a USA seller.
I don't have the identity now because stupid Ebay erases the archives after 6 months.
Try searching for "Zeiss cleaning" - I just did but for some reason connection to Ebay seems to be missing from here at the moment.

If you immediately add him to your 'favourite sellers' list it will remain there forever.
