http://www.dpreview.com/articles/photokina2008/

"...there will be more digital SLRs with full frame (36 x 24 mm) sensors than any previous show, and they will cost much less than they have at any time in the past."

For the FF I predict 5D successor, 1D successor and the Sony's flagship, A900. No Pentax news though Sad

The lastest rumours about it is it features 21+ MP, new digic 4 processor that can be pushed up to something like 12800 ISO, gapless sensor, and a weaker AA filter that is supposed to completely disappear when digic 5 processor will be ready... Shocked

It looks like as if I will be able to tell you first hand.
My headmaster has allowed me one day off to go to the Photokina for our school. Very Happy

That's great. You might have the opportunity to photograph (if it's allowed) and make a Protokina '80 "mfLenses" reportage .

I second that. YOU will become the star of the show!
Imagine all the people at Canon booth ignoring the 5DMkII to stare at the Sonnar 4/135 mounted on your camera! Wink

Laughing

I guess I will bring the Sigma 17-70 and mount it when I come to the Sigma stand. Wink They have given me a free ticket! So I owe that to them. Razz

Otherwise, I expect the light to be pretty bad, so I of course will bring fast primes rather than sluggish zoom lenses. Laughing

Thanks for the idea with the silver lens. That's good. It might be the silver Tair-11 2.8/133 which can easily be seen and looks like heavy metal! Shocked

Perhaps, I even bring my Yashica Electro 35 GS in oder to really shock them. Twisted Evil

That would be a weird thing: a photography fair where it is not allowed to take photos. Laughing

Just imagine, somewhere in the internet, a photo showing a weird guy with an old, silver Russian lens mounted to his 40D surrounded by a bunch of other photographers who try to hide their white "L"-lenses. Laughing Laughing

Carsten
We are all consumed with jealousy - so how did you get an invite from Sigma? They usually have a guy from Switzerland there - I can't remember his name - but he is the guru (amateur) of the SD range and they put up a lot of his prints. You absolutely have to carry at least one MF lens to show them who rules.

24.6 MP, 100% viewfinder and IS built in camera, all this sounds great, unfortunately, it can not mount my lenses Sad

That's true, Orio. I should order one from spreadshirts (see "T-shirt" link in my sig).

Because of my 17-70 I am a registered Sigma user (which includes a 3-year-guarantee as well).
I got a message that Sigma started a "lottery" in which you could win a Photokina ticket. Well, I won... Very Happy

Yes , you could, at least some of them and if there would exist adapters for them. I know that for M42 and T mount exists . Minolta A mount has a registered distance of 44.5mm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minolta_AF
Still, I don't know if the stabiliser works with non-Minolta A lenses.

But now I shoot almost exclusively with C/Y lenses.
The only other lenses that still get some use are the Flektogons, Tessars, and MIRs. Too few to justify the expense for a camera - and actually I will have to proceed with further lens sales

Around Christmas if disasters don't happen (our government of Philistines has announced the introduction of new taxes - as most taxed country in the EU we really felt the need of that...) I plan to buy a second digital body - I will choose which one depending on how much I'll be able to afford to spend - but in any case it must be compatible with C/Y lenses.

I really hope Nikon would blast all expectations and surprise us with introducing no more tourist zooms or software-updated point-and-shoots - I really wish they'd stir water by introducing a purpose-designed digital SLR capable of scuba diving to at least 30m. A digital Nikonos with dedicated fisheye/28/50/85 lense range (existing lenses with uw mods) would rock my world more than a fast prime update to the 28/50/85 lenses ever could.

Back in the days, Nikonos ruled the oceans. Today, for a housing without dome, I have to pay more than I paid for my D3 body to dive with it Sad

Wow!
Well in fact it had to be expected sooner or later. It's just the natural evolution.
I expect the price tag, however, to be out of reach for most amateurs for at least a few years.
