I have the normal passport. Do you need a special permission to enter the USA? I mean, for vacation.

The airline will normally arrange this for you, but check with them when you book

Normally for EU members don't need VISA except some "second level" EU members like Hungary. I guess you don't need VISA to entry.

I wanted to bring this idea back to the top of the list again. As we have all seen from the lovely images Larry has presented. This area is a photogs dream. Maybe the logistics and cost is an obstacle. I think if we keep talking about it, there is a chance something can happen. I had plans to come to Europe this summer. My grandfather is now 97 and I wanted to see him in Switzerland once more before he leaves us. The weak dollar may kill my plans. That being said it (the weak $) may help others possibly coming from EU or especially the UK. Anyway just want to keep the idea on the stove staying warm. Smile

Switzerland is not far away from here (about 2 hours car from the border line), if you have time to make a detour I'll be happy to have you as my guest in my house, I'll give you a guest room.

Thankyou Orio, It would an honor to be your guest. My grandfather is in Basel but, I have an aunt and cousins to visit to the south. She has a house on Lago Majore (I hope I spelled it correctly). I believe that is very close to you. If we can do it Michelle and I will travel the end of July and stay thrue mid August. Money is the obstacle for us now. Although we will probably find a way.

Lago Maggiore Smile Not really close, as it's more northwest (here is central north), but, still, not so dramatically far away, I think about 3 hours car. We'll find a way to meet somewhere.

Although I prefer the Lago di Garda, the Lago Maggiore is not bad, either:

As I live in the other "Sodden State" (Portland, Oregon!) I could attend - but although I'd love to, sometimes leaving the N West with its constant drip drip drip is all that keeps me sane1 Now, a week or two in Greece, Hungary, Turkey... well... Smile OK then, if Washington State it has to be... count me in - but why wait until 2010???? Doug.

Meeting in either The Pacific Northwest or Switzerland in a couple of years sound wonderful.
But what's all this talk of taking pictures of mountains and trees?
Don't these places have homeless people for me to photograph?

Sure the NW has homeless people - here's one in Portland to be getting on with...

Hopefully there will be another (albeit not in the NW) when Dubya clears out of the White House!

I'm not so far from switzerland (130 km from Basel) and in 2010 I'll able to offer some space for 2x Husband & wife . Yet, Usa is a great opportunity too , my brother lives an work in N.J. state (Montville-Pinebrook), i only have to travel 1500miles more from him's , if I understand ... So the idea is quite simple : two sessions ! one in europe, one in usa, one year interval.

Washington state sounds nice. I haven't been to the west coast since I was a young man.

We have a week planed in 2010 in Mexico so I can photograph the Mayan ruins, then a couple of months later a week in the Caribbean but this will be in the winter. I don't know if I could talk my wife into a trip just for photography or not, although she is pretty understanding and has been talking about going to Montana..
