I don't have that the 1.8, only have the older sibling, 1.9. Here's a link to another forum where I posted a few pics. All handheld with zero sharpness and other adjustments (Canon 20D w/ parameter 2 setting). Cropped JPEG converted from RAW by Apple Aperture 2.

My 1.9 is sharp enough for me (after all it's a portrait lens), the 1.8 is reputed to be much sharper.

Enjoy.

BTW, a hood is recommended but I have yet to experience flare unlike the Tak 2/35mm I recently received.

Highly collectible valuable lens and pretty rare, I always keep one copy in my collection. I guess a very nice lens, but I rate all Carl Zeiss ~80mm lens higher. I guess pretty much same than Nikkor 85mm f2 or 1.8.

It's expensive. I want one but have not yet afforded it. Not rare that it ends up at >200€

Average price closer to 300 EUR than 200.

Very nice presentation how good this lens!

I have this lens and can attest to its quality. Here are 2 test images taken wide open to check its bokeh - which by the way is very nice. I think this is on par with the famous and still much sought after Nikkor 85mm f1.8. The only drama (not a fault of the lens) is that I find such lenses hard to focus on my Panasonic L1 given that this camera is not brilliant in the viewfinder and focus confirmation departments (and due to my cruddy eyesight.)

Susmariosep !

Helios,

What sort of scanner did you use ?

PostPosted: Wed Jun 25, 2008 8:41 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Luis , the scanner is an old Polaroïd Sprintscan 35+ , 2700 dpi . It gives approximatively a 2400x3600 pix image .... in 35 seconds !

Thank you, poilu, Nesster, bawang, Attila, zewrak, luisalegria, for joining me.

Thank you Helios for the great pics for me.

Thank you Peterm1 for the good details.

I'll try this lens by portrait in next Saturday and post some pics in this board.

I have often been looking for the "poor brother" of this lens, that is, the Super Takumar 1.9/85, because I liked the samples I saw from that lens, but I could never get my hands on one.

Khan this considered one of the very best of all Takumar lenses.
see: http://stans-photography.info/
( wished I would get a present like this once..)

cheers,
Andreas

I consider this lens in my top five lenses ... (among 250) I bought it second hand for 90€ of 1978 (250 today's euros !) and it is probably one of the last lens I'd sell ...

Price is didn't changed much, today also available sometimes ~250-300 EUR. This is the good thing in quality lenses Smile

Uhm I see them everywhere. A bit pricey perhaps, but still. I thought they were useless in comparison so just gone "meh" when I've seen them.

Save more money and take quality lens like this Takumar 85mm or Carl Zeiss or Nikkor best ones etc. Better deal than buy top cameras like an 5D. This lenses are keep their price and they are more important for quality images than a camera.

I spoke too soon. But found 3 Super Tak 85mm f1.9 for roughly 150$ each.

Try it and share it, if you not like it you can sell, but I am 100% sure Super Tak is not reach this quality.

Can't afford it atm. Lots and lots and lots of bills. Need to sell off some Meyers and stuff before I buy more lenses. Or the wife will see to it that I get about a head shorter. Wink
