I had assumed the K 300/4 was the same as the Takumars, but apparently and upgrade was made from 5/5 to 7/5

Haven't used them enough yet to know that. Ergonomics are about the same. The M42 Taks have tripod rings; the other two no.

Yep -- that's why I wanted to try it!

I'm not sure which one is "better" -- maybe a test with better light will reveal more differences. As maybe will longer distance. The Tele-Takumar is looking good at this point...
