Hi there,

I recently inherited a Pentacon 50mm 1.8 auto M42 lens from my grandfather. The focus was a bit stiff so I decided to open her up and re grease the thread. I was successful in the disassemble, clean and greasing of the thread, and 90% of the reassemble, however, I'm now stuck at the final stage of putting the mount back on the lens and can't for the life of me work out how to get the manual / auto button and the aperture to work again...

I managed to line up the aperture lever and arms and put the mount back on, but when I went to test it all, there didn't seem to be any resistance on the M/A button (green highlight) or the rear pin (blue highlight). Further inspection revealed there to be an odd spring (red highlight), which I can't work out a purpose for, or if it's even in the right position. The spring looks kind of 'disengaged'.

Prior to the disassemble, the M/A button and pin would have a resistance to them, as if there were a spring to push it back into place. As far as I can see around me, I have not mistakenly lost or removed any extra small springs, wires, or bearings.

Has anyone had any experience with these lenses? I would greatly appreciate your knowledge and input on how I might go about getting it back to working order Smile

Thanks!

red highlighted spring is not looking like it should. it should look like this:
