Hi I bought a pentacon 50mm f1.8 , but............its auto only with a button on the side to close down the aperture, is my only recourse to take it apart and rig something up? or is the button press after focusing and composing my only option?

It does take nice pics though, here is one taken at 1.8 ISO1600 and a #3 extension tube on it

Hi dude163,

You will have to open it for the best results. Here's a link to how I disabled the auto aperture pin on the lens, part of a bigger cleaning project. The backend opens up easy although its always beneficial to put drops of WD40 on the screws. Some of these screws can be stubborn.
