Just wondering if anyone have used this company for anything, in particular sensor cleaning.
My 5D2 has a lot of tiny specs of dust which can't be moved by either a rocket blower or the built-in cleaning system.
The cost will be around £50 (including postage back and fore) which sounds reasonable to me, it would be good if others could confirm that the job is done well.

I have considered buying a cleaning kit and attempting the cleaning myself but I'm worried about making a mess of it. I'm just not prepared to take that risk.

Well I went ahead with the sensor cleaning and I'm very happy with the service Park Cameras provided.

The cleaning itself costs £40 plus £4.99 return postage. The postage from my end was twice that because I had to insure the camera for £1000.

The company rang me to let me know the job was done and the camera was in the post. They also explained what they found during the process, namely three large bits of dirt and many tiny dust bunnies. This was exactly what I expected after testing the sensor at home.

I tested the sensor again once it came back and it appears to be, quite literally, spotless.

So I am happy to recommend Park Cameras for sensor cleaning jobs. Very Happy

Good service is worth paying for. I understand that Real Camera in Manchester do this service but I have had no experience.

What's wrong with some cleaning fluid and cottonbuds? I clean my NEX sensor once a week, you're not going to damage the sensor, it has a glass plate on top so it's just like cleaning a lens. I bet all they do when they clean it is cotton buds and cleaning fluid. Even a tenner is way too much for something you can do yourself in 2 mins.

Most people didn't know that include me, thank you!

From a personal point of view, I'm not about to risk damaging something which would be uneconomical to replace if I messed it up.

This camera cost me £1000, there's no way in hell that I would risk damaging it. I'd rather leave the cleaning process to a pro who not only knows what he's doing, but is also insured against mistakes.
The filter alone costs £150, I have no idea how hard or soft it is so it's not worth messing with. Look how delicate the focussing screens are, you only need to look at it the wrong way to leave a scratch.

If someone wants to poke inside their camera with cotton buds, good luck to them. Personally, I value my gear far more than that.

I've cleaned my K10 and NEX sensors myself since I had them from new, I use a SensorKlear lens pen and a rocket blower - blower first - and never had any problems. I did try a cheap cleaning pen thing from Jessops a long time ago and that left more bits on the sensor than were there in the first place, so I think a good cleaning pen is essential. I bought the SensorKlear on recommendation and it's excellent.
I should add that I'm not one of these people who only change lenses indoors in a steamy dust free room, I change lenses anywhere and very often, and I suppose I pay the price of having to clean the sensor frequently.

+1, I always take at least 3 lenses with me and usually use all 3, so always have a few swaps 'in the field' the result is always some bits of crap on the sensor.

I just think it's daft to pay someone to do it, I mean, I bet they do exactly the same as I do, just they charge a hefty sum for doing so. The sensor in my NEX works as well as it did when I first got it, there are no scratches or damage. How is a soft piece of cotton going to scratch a hard piece of glass with a hard coating on it?

Oh well, as long as some people are prepared to waste money, there will always be unscrupulous companies willing to take it. Rolling Eyes
