Panasonic G1...

The thing has an ultra-short 20mm flange distance meaning that just about any 35mm lens ever made (including all sorts of classic rangefinder lenses) should be easily adaptable without the need for any corrective optics. Assuming the image quality turns out to be pretty good, I'm thinking this could be the closest thing to a workable "universal camera" ever made (though the 2x crop factor is a PITA...)

I haven't seen much discussion of this here, though, so I was just wondering what people thought of the possibility.

Yes I think exactly in the same way including PITA portion. Very Happy
But Panasonic said they will produce adapter (possibly M->m4/3),
and the price of G1 will be around US$800 with a kit zoom lens.
The body alone would cost $500 on the street, which is not cheap
but affordable. So FoV is your call, I may use Cosina UWH 15mm
which will have 30mm FoV, wide enough for daily use I think.

IQ is the only remaining question to be answered.

Subject has been covered in the News and Announcements section, but I am
really curious to see a review of the Olympus model, I like its retro look
very much, even with the 2x crop factor.
